The direct link to the site is http://www.paymex.co.nz however, as of 6.00pm 14 March 2007, the site has been offline for several hours.
According to Paymex this is due to a power failure in the Tauranga area, and the site should be back up within an hour. But shouldn't a website handling financial transactions have a more robust architecture to circumvent being brought down by a power failure? As in multiple redundant systems?

Back up now for me anyway.
I should think that getting a backup system in place shouldn't be too much of an ask. I feel for them having an outage so soon after the day they issued their press release..

Apparently it was due to the weather blowing the power and the UPS running out before getting it fixed. Sounds like something from the movies if you ask me :)
Still...
At least we know it's hosted in New Zealand and not offshore :)
