The National Security archive has a August 2002 powerpoint plan for an Iraq invasion from U.S. Central Command. "Completely unrealistic assumptions" include an instant provisional government and "that the Iraqis would stay in their garrisons and be reliable partners, and finally that the post-hostilities phase would be a matter of mere 'months'".
