Southern film-makers shoot to success in 48-hour production: Forty-eight hours of frantic writing, travelling and filming has turned into silverscreen gold for a group of Southland film-makers. The production crew known as Rabies Babies has claimed top spot in the regional section of the V 48 Hours film competition.
Their work, titled Chatter, centres on the fictitious story of a policeman who invents the fabled chatter ring, a circular hoop with spinning and loud nuts, and his attempts to patent and market it... They acquired even an appearance by Invercargill Mayor Tim Shadbolt rattling a chatter ring in the council chambers. "When he came on screen, the audience went crazy, clapping and yahooing." ...
The group is now on tenterhooks waiting to find out whether it will progress to the July 2 national final where, if selected, Mr Storey said the film should do well...
